Another article published in 2015 in the journal, Stroke, from Kyoto University in Japan clearing points out the risk of stroke, dementia and Parkinson’s disease was much higher in subjects that could not stand on one leg with eyes open for at least 20 seconds.

Finally, if none of the above reasons are enough to encourage you to do some strength training, maybe resistance exercise can help you maintain your independence as you age and keep you in your home instead of a nursing home.
